A Caravaggio for £4.7.6

My maternal grandfather, Thomas McHugh, a stonemason of Vicar Street, Tuam, County Galway, Ireland purchased two oil paintings at an auction in 1930. These were the property of the late Henry Concannon, Solicitor of Grove House, Tuam. One of them, a Caravaggio, was bought for £4.7.6 and later sold for £136.10.0 at Christie’s, London, as recorded in The Connacht Tribune on 24 June 2005.
